Attendance and Participation

1.1 Classroom Attendance

  • Regular attendance is expected for all didactic courses.

  • Faculty may record attendance and incorporate participation into course grading if outlined in the syllabus.

  • Students are responsible for all content, assignments, announcements, and learning activities whether present or absent.

1.2 Laboratory & Simulation Attendance

  • Attendance at all scheduled skills labs and simulation experiences is mandatory.

  • Absences may result in required makeup assignments, additional lab hours, or remediation; availability of makeup experiences is not guaranteed.

  • More than one unexcused absence in any lab/simulation course may result in course failure.

1.3 Clinical Attendance

  • All clinical hours required by the program and course syllabi must be completed.

  • Absences jeopardize competency attainment and place patients at risk; therefore all clinical absences must be reported prior to the start of the shift to both faculty and the clinical agency.

  • Clinical hours must be made up as scheduled by faculty; repeated absences may lead to dismissal from the clinical course.

  • Tardiness may be treated as an absence at faculty discretion.
