Remediation and Repetition

Remediation is designed to support safe practice, academic success, and competency attainment. 

4.1 Academic Remediation 
Students may be directed to complete: 

  • Skills lab refreshers 

  • ATI or third-party learning modules 

  • Writing center or tutoring referrals 

  • Faculty-assigned supplemental work 

  • Exam review sessions or learning plans 

4.2 Clinical Remediation 
Initiated when a student demonstrates concerns in safety, professionalism, communication, or skill performance. 

  • Faculty will provide a written Clinical Improvement Plan (CIP) outlining required actions, timeline, and evaluation. 

  • Failure to meet CIP expectations results in an Unsatisfactory clinical evaluation and course failure. 

4.3 Mandatory Remediation Triggers 

  • Medication errors 

  • Repeated simulation errors impacting patient safety 

  • Failure of unit exams or benchmarks 

  • Professionalism concerns or repeated attendance issues
