Policy
Conferring of Degrees
- Associate and baccalaureate degrees shall be conferred by the University three times a year. The designated times shall be at the conclusion of the fall, spring and summer semesters.
- The “completion of graduation requirements” includes completing the requirements for an approved major, and the Liberal Education Program/Minnesota Transfer Curriculum, and Graduation Requirements, filing a Degree Check form and an Application for Graduation, and paying all financial obligations to Southwest Minnesota State University.
- The “Conferring of Degrees” is an official act by the University signifying that the student has completed all graduation requirements and has been recommended for a degree according to his/her curriculum by the faculty.
- Commencement is a ceremony during which graduates and spring semester candidates are publicly recognized. The Commencement ceremony shall be held once a year at the conclusion of the spring term.
