Tutoring
Tutoring is available on a one-on-one or small group basis, either for course-related assistance or for academic skills. Tutoring is free of charge to SMSU students, and is available through the Deeann Griebel Student Success Center, Math Learning Center, Writing Center, and some academic departments. Information on available tutor programs is posted on the front desk of the Deeann Griebel Student Success Center each semester.
Interdisciplinary Tutoring
The Deeann Griebel Student Success Center offers free walk-in tutoring in multiple disciplines and courses. Interdisciplinary tutoring consists of peer-facilitated learning experiences for undergraduates interested in requesting a tutor at SMSU. We work with students to identify and mobilize resources that facilitate learning and promote success. Tutoring can help support retention and completion efforts, aid with course grade improvement, and improve college experience satisfaction.
An advantage of interdisciplinary tutoring is the peer-facilitated learning experience, a service that is provided by fellow students who have successfully completed coursework in their tutoring subject areas and earned recommendations from faculty who teach those subjects.
The student success center currently offers walk-in tutoring in the following disciplines: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, and Accounting. Subjects could vary each semester.
Walk-in tutoring can be found on the second floor of the Individualized Learning building (IL 224).

Tutor.com
SMSU offers 24/7 access to free online tutoring through Tutor.com accessible through D2L Brightspace. Students receive 15 hours per year to use this online tutoring service. Tutors are always available, even late at night when your instructor may not be. Stuck on a problem? Want someone to review your paper? This tutoring service is easy to use and can be accessed on any device that connects to the internet.
