Judicial Hearing Recording Procedure

  1. Informal Hearings will be recorded if a possible sanction could be either suspension from the University of 10 days or more or expulsion. Hearings are recorded for further appeal purposes.
  2. The recordings are, and remain, the property of Southwest Minnesota State University. The Associate Vice President for Student Affairs provides access to them for use in appeal or court proceedings.
  3. These recordings are maintained until the end of any appeals process, at which time they will be destroyed.
  4. These recordings may be released by the Associate Vice President for use in civil or criminal proceedings upon presentation of the appropriate court order or subpoena. A Hearing Committee may review the recording of a hearing. No other release of these tapes is permitted except as required by law.
